Allerton Oak - A symbol of hope & remembrance

Liverpool’s 1000 year old tree that’s seen it all!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Allerton Oak has been around since before Liverpool even existed. A tree that was around during medieval times, the Allerton Oak acted as a makeshift courthouse due to the lack of a true courthouse in Allerton. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Fast forward to the 1940’s, the love and strength contained in its leaves really shows through. Envelopes with a leaf from the Allerton Oak would be sent to those fighting on the frontline to give them hope and as a reminder that those back home hadn’t forgotten them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can still visit this epic tree, standing strong and proud in Calderstones Park and marvel at its beauty and powerful history.
