I was going to say it is going to be a strange halloween, but that’s the whole point of Halloween isn’t it? Celebrating the wacky, the disturbing, the uncomfortable, the unsettling...the strange, and nothing is stranger than 2020! So what we have decided to do, in a bid to share the spirit of this spooky season, is come up with some entertaining and spine-trembling ways to enjoy this halloween.
Make sure you don’t miss a beat this halloween. Take a look below at some of our ghastly ideas for a Halloween at home in 2020.
Scavenger HuntNow this is some serious halloween fun! Spend some time during the day hiding away gruesome treats. The family may not be able to go around the neighbourhood ‘trick or treating’ but this might be even better!
Be sure to give everyone a chance, providing some scary halloween themed clues to guide them on their petrifying path.
Virtual costume partyDon’t worry, this isn’t a dreaded zoom quiz! Get the whole gang dressed in some scary costumes to enjoy a night of mischief in your own home. Plan some games, award a best dressed, and more!
Scary Movie MarathonWho doesn’t love a good horror/thriller film to get the heart racing and the hands sweaty? Halloween has prompted some of Hollywood’s best. Below we have written the ultimate list of scary movies that will really get the screams out of the family! Beware, some of these films might be best suited for after the kids have gone to bed!
- The Addams Family
- Beetlejuice
- GhostBusters
- The Nightmare before Christmas
- Edward Scissorhands
- The Shining
- Halloween (we suggest the original)
- Scream
Turn your home into a haunted house!

This can work perfectly with a scavenger hunt for the kids, giving you plenty of nooks, crannies and crooked corners to hide some treats in!
Halloween cocktailsThis one is for the kids at heart!
- Bloody Mary
This simple hangover cure doesn’t need any changes to suit the halloween horror. With it’s bright red colour and the name of the eternally frightening spirit that comes through the mirror, this spicy drink is perfect for Hallow’s evening.
- Halloween Punch
Cherry juice, chilli, cinnamon, ginger and vodka. Garnish with edible fangs.
A scary scoop of this will warm the insides on this chilling night.
- Zombie Cocktail
Blend white and dark rum with lime juice, pineapple juice and a dash of grenadine. Garnish with maraschino cherries, mint and an orange wedge.
Summon the undead to your kitchen with this creepy cocktail, adding the perfect horrifying touch to your halloween.
Don’t forget that with all the restrictions and self-isolating, many people are stuck at home and might be feeling lonely. We came across a fantastic way to make sure that you are letting your loved ones and neighbours know that you are thinking of them. It is called ghosting. Get together a box with an assortment of terrifying treats and ghoulish games and drop it off at their door, ring the doorbell and scarper! Include a note in the box if you would like, maybe wishing the person a happy halloween, telling them a scary tale or even telling them to pass on the spooky season spirit! Alternatively, we can do the heavy lifting for you by purchasing our Mischief Box here.
